About You

You’re a seasoned senior engineer with mastery of Ruby on Rails to handle the ongoing development of an assessment web application and orbiting communication plug-ins/bots as well as development of a mobile app platform.

 

Responsibilities 

  • Write a lot of code
  • Be involved in DevOps and architecture of entire system
  • Design and implement new features from specification to final test
  • Work closely alongside a Full Stack Developer, Software Engineer and QA to deliver a complete, tested customer solution
  • Work in an agile development environment, where you are always focused on delivering maximum customer value
  • Learn a tremendous amount about modern human resource management  technologies
  • Influence the future direction of our product

Qualifications

  • A BS in Computer Science, Math, or an Engineering discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience, 3+ years of Ruby on Rails experience
  • Experience and skill in developing operationally robust and debuggable software
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Solid working knowledge of the Ruby language and the Rails framework is a must
  • Understanding of object-oriented design, design patterns and how they apply to Ruby
  • Solid understanding of SQL and data modeling for scalability and performance
  • Experience creating RESTful APIs for integration with mobile apps and websites
  • Commitment to writing quality code through TDD, BDD, CI, and CD
  • Proficiency with Git as a source code management tool
  • Experience with Agile and Lean development methodologies
  • Experience with project tracking systems such as JIRA, Pivotal, and Trello
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbal)
  • Desire to learn new technology and use that knowledge in producing world-class web and mobile apps

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of sustainable engineering practices such as GitFlow and GitHubFlow
  • Linux administration/development
  • Experience with cloud computing in AWS or similar IaaS/PaaS
  • A deep understanding of MySQL, Postgres, or MS SQL
  • Strong background in remote/distributed team collaboration
