He is the author or co-author of several books and training resources including:
  • Have a Nice Conflict
  • Working with SDI
  • Working with Core Strengths
  • Becoming a Leader We Need with Strategic Intelligence.
Tim Scudder has spent most of his professional life studying and teaching about personality and working relationships. While he began his career in accounting, his work performing audits and performance monitoring for workplace training agencies soon sparked his interest in the power of human potential and relationship awareness theory. That led to his work with Core Strengths, a global talent and development company.
Tim has a great method for teaching the Core Strengths materials. He really opened my eyes to different communication methods I may not have even known I was using. I will definitely take this back to my team and start implementing Core Strengths immediately.

As a principal in the company since 1995, Tim has played a lead role in developing assessments and curriculum based on the ground-breaking work of the firm’s founder, acclaimed psychologist Elias Porter.

Tim has written or co-authored several books, articles, and training resources, including Results through Relationships, Have a Nice Conflict, and The Leaders We Need.

He frequently is a featured speaker at conferences, association events, and workshops on topics such as strengths, motivation, teamwork, leadership, change management, and conflict management. In addition to his leadership role at Core Strengths, he consults and facilitates with clients, specializing in work with high potential leaders, improving the relationship awareness of organizational cultures, and linking human development functions to organizations’ financial health. His clients have included IBM, CME Group, USC, GEI Consultants, Microsoft, PricewaterhouseCoopers, the US Army, the British Foreign Commonwealth Office, and Twitter.

Tim has a Master’s degree in human development and a Ph.D. in human and organizational systems, both from Fielding Graduate University. His research on personality types in relationship awareness theory provided the first empirical validation of Sigmund Freud’s views on normal personality types. He lives in Carlsbad, California with his wife Kim and their three daughters. His outdoor passions include motorcycles, camping, and surfing.
